Former long time Marlow resident: Alta Ruth Mowdy, departed this life on Saturday, October 27, 2018 in Covington, Louisiana at the age of 86.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, November 2, 2018 at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Marlow with Rev. Johnny Wray officiating. Burial will follow in the Marlow Cemetery. All arrangements have been entrusted to the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.
Alta was born Sunday, January 31, 1932 in Bailey, to George Pascal and Bonnie Pearl (Huey) Morrison. She lived in the Marlow area most of her life and graduated from Bray High School. She worked for numerous companies in the area including Cline Industries, Haggar's, Halliburton, and Southwestern Bell. Alta married the love of her life, John Dennis Mowdy on November 30, 1950 in Lawton. They were married for 61 wonderful years before his passing on May 11, 2012. She loved to bowl in leagues with her late husband but traveling was her favorite thing to do. Alta was a very talented woman that could do anything with her hands. One of her many talents that she enjoyed was painting especially China painting. Alta liked to entertain her friends and loved playing numerous games such as dominos, and card games with them. Alta was a family woman that loved to keep her grandchildren and great-grandchildren every chance she could. She loved her cats. Her favorite color was pink and the family encourages you to wear pink in her honor at the service. Alta will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her.
Survivors include, 2 sons, Dale Mowdy and wife Jan of Duncan, Allen Mowdy-Kemp and husband Bill Mowdy-Kemp of Covington, LA, 2 grandchildren, Brad Mowdy, Brandy Cunningham both of Duncan, 5 great-grandchildren, Taylor Mowdy, Braden Mowdy, Landen Mowdy, Mackenzy Cunningham, and Jase Cunningham.
Along with her husband, Alta was preceded in death by her parents.
