A celebration of life for Anita Joyce Hulen will be held on November 13 at 11:00 am at Callaway Smith Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow, OK. Anita passed away peacefully at her home on November 3, 2018 surrounded by her loved ones.
Anita was born April 2, 1934 in Ore City, Texas to Joseph and Ruby Branch (Shirley). She was the 2nd born of 6 children. On January 7, 1959, she married the love of her life, Mack Hulen in Wichita Falls, Texas. In 1964, they moved to the Central High area where they resided and raised their family until his death on July 4th, 2001.
Anita was a homemaker who loved gardening, canning, sewing, crafting, cooking and taking care of her flowers, but above all, she loved her children and grandchildren. Fearless in her approach to life, it was nothing to find her in the chicken house trying to wrestle a snake for trying to get her chickens. She was the jokester of the family and loved to dish out a good prank or scare on any unsuspecting participant, regardless of age. Many had never known the meaning of true terror until they stayed the night at Grandmas’ house. She had an unharnessed passion for life, a compassionate heart for anyone in need and so many times she would give and give without any regards to her own needs. As a result, the stories and memories will be shared and live on amongst her family and all of those who knew her, for generations to come.
Anita was a God fearing woman, who loved the Lord with all of her heart and she raised her children and grandchildren to do the same. She instilled in all of us to love people, be kind to each other and strangers alike, but also knew her way around the switch bush when we needed it.
Her home was a centerpiece for the family to land and when they did, she was always there to whip us up something, as she always thought that we needed to eat no matter what. She shared her life with us, the good and the bad. She had no lack of confidence when it came to her children and grandchildren and her strength was abundant, a fighter in every sense of the word and that spirit was alive in her to the very end.
She is home now with her Beloved Mack, singing in the Angels Choir surrounded by all of her loved ones and praising her Lord and Savior.
Anita was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Michelle Greenspan, sisters Mary Jo Richardson, Shirley Rose Fields, two brothers Kenneth Branch and Robert Earl Spencer and a grandson James (Jimmy) Anthony Simpson.
She is survived by her brothers Jimmy, Charles and Pete and sisters Glenda Ann and Betty Louise, step daughter Cynthia Nunnery, children Mitchell Hulen and wife Patti, Linda Simpson, Lisa Bullard, Steve Hulen and wife Stephanie, Tonya Parker and husband Mark, Suzanne Hart, and longtime best friend Alma Turner.
Grandchildren include Charity , Lori , Jennifer, Brandi and husband Darrin, Brian and wife Angie, Brittni and husband Jim, Barry and wife Jacy, Travis, Matthew and wife Carli, Shane, Cara and husband Chris, Justin, Trevor, Johsua and wife Allison, Corey and fiancé Kenyan and 20 great grandchildren.
We ask that you celebrate with us, the life of this special woman whom we called mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. We love you “Momma.”
