Obituary for Arnold Lamar Howell

Duncan: Arnold Lamar Howell, 76, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022 in Marlow.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Marlow, with Rev. Kyle Howell officiating. Burial will be in the Duncan Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 15, 8:30 AM - 8:30 PM, with the family receiving visitors the same evening from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM.

Lamar was born Friday, January 4, 1946 in Houston, MS, to Arnold Howell and Addie Lou McQuary. He was a 1964 graduate of Duncan High School. Lamar lived in Duncan most of his life and worked as a pipe fitter. He married the love of his life, Phyllis Ann Adams, in Tacoma, WA, on July 18, 1970. Lamar and Phyllis celebrated more than 51 wonderful years of marriage at the time of his passing. He was a proud member of the United States Army. Throughout his years of serving, he received a National Defense Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Sharpshooter, and a Combat Infantryman Badge. Lamar loved fishing and NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt. He enjoyed watching football, softball, and Westerns on the TV. Lamar also enjoyed coaching softball. He loved his family the most and he cherished the time he spent with them. Lamar will be deeply missed by all.

Survivors include his wife of the home, Marci "Shorty" Stocking and husband Caleb of Duncan, 2 grandsons, Brandt "Powder" Stocking, and Beckham "Beemer" Stocking, 2 brothers, James Howell of Woodward, and Kenneth Howell and wife Debbie of Lake Texoma, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Lamar was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Brenda Fowler, sister-in-law, Rilda Kay Howell, and many dear friends.

Pallbearers will be: Shane Jackson, Paul Tackett, Duane Howell, Connor Newman, Robert Newman, Elmer Skeen.

Honorary Pallbearers: Roger Dodd, Tommy Joe Moore, Don Thomas, Carl Merrill, and Ronnie Watson.
