Obituary for Betty Joan Johnson (Harris)

Marlow: Betty Joan Johnson, 85, of Marlow, passed away on June 26, 2020 in Duncan.

Graveside Services will be held at 10 AM, Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at the Marlow Cemetery, with Keith Johnson officiating. All services and arrangements have been entrusted to the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Service in Marlow.

Betty was born to Lawrence M. and Ruth Marie (Chamberlain) Harris in Saint Louis, IL. She attended school at Midwest City, and upon graduating, Betty went to work for the Tinker Air Force Base. She married the love of her life, Donald Johnson, on December 13, 1957 in Midwest City, and they were married for 28 short years before his passing on February 17, 1986. They later moved to Ratliff City, where they owned and operated a cafe and grocery store. In 1978 they settled in Marlow, and Betty went to work as a teller for First National Bank in Marlow until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donald, two sisters, Fay Messer and May Harris, 3 brothers, Vernon Harris, Allen Harris, and Bill Harris, brother-in-law, Richard Messer, and sister-in-law, Shirley Harris.

She is survived by two sons, Mark Jay Johnson and wife Lissa of Marlow, Larry Ray Johnson and wife Barbara of Marlow; four grandsons, Michael Johnson and wife Ashley, Cody Don Johnson and wife Jamie, Zane Houck and wife Lara, and Aubrey Houck; three great-grandchildren, Audrie Johnson, Jarrett Johnson, and Baker Houck; her 2 sister-in-laws, Ann Harris, Kay Harris; and numerous nieces and nephews.
