Obituary for Bill J English

Rush Springs: Bill J English, 75, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2022 in Rush Springs.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at the Rush Springs Cemetery with Rev. David Hale officiating. Burial and all arrangements have been entrusted to Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.

Bill's family will be accepting visitors at Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs on Tuesday, October 25, 5:00-7:00 PM.

Bill was born November 12, 1946 in Duncan, to A.J. and Ada Mae (Tims) English. He was a graduate of Rush Springs High School and lived in the Rush Springs area most of his life. Bill later attended Oklahoma State University and University of Oklahoma College of Law, earning his Juris Doctorate. He was an associate professor of Political Science at the University of Oklahoma and also a visiting professor for the Criminal Justice program at the University of Central Oklahoma. Bill spent 30 years practicing law and was an associate judge from 1997-2002. He enlisted in the USMC in 1968. Bill was active during the Vietnam War and Desert Storm. During his time serving as a Marine, he was awarded the Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, and the Legion of Merit. He was a member of the Rush Springs Lions Club and a former President of the Oklahoma Bar Association. Bill enjoyed reading, watching Jeopardy, telling stories, and talking politics. He loved his family and will be missed deeply by many.

Survivors include son, John English and wife Maggie of OKC, 3 daughters, Katherine English of Washington DC, Kristin Reichert and husband Bart of Plano, TX, and Evan English and Zac Holland of OKC, and 7 grandchildren:, Olivia, Mason, Bowen, Jessica, Sydney, Madison, and Brandon

He was preceded in death by his parents.
