Edmond: Billie "June" Whaley, 94, passed away Friday, March 31, 2023 in Edmond.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Marlow. Burial will be in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday, April 3, 3:00-8:30 PM, Tuesday, April 4, 8:30 AM - 8:30 PM, and Wednesday, 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM.
There will be a family visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, 6:00-8:00 PM.
June was born Friday, June 15, 1928, in Wellington, TX, to Chester and Cordelia (Ammons) Bodine. She was a graduate of Samnorwood High School. June moved to the Duncan area in 1962 and worked as a secretary for Duncan High School until her retirement. She moved to the OKC area in 2013 and lived there until her passing. June married the love of her life, Ollie "Buddy" Leroy Whaley, on August 15, 1947, in Wellington, TX. She and Buddy celebrated more than 60 wonderful years of marriage until he preceded her in death on April 11, 2008. June was an active member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Duncan where she also taught Sunday School. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, and sewing. June also enjoyed growing her vegetable garden, canning, and cooking. She was a very kind and caring woman and she truly loved helping others. June always valued her family the most and she loved her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids more than words could ever express. She will be missed by many.
Survivors include son, Royce Whaley and wife Darlene of OKC, daughter, Joyce Pogue and husband Kelly of Edmond, 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, sister, Jackie Webb of Amarillo, TX, 3 sisters-in-law, Carol Bodine of Wellington, Mattie Whaley of Duncan, and Christine Massey of TN, and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
In addition to her loving husband, June was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Winston Bodine, and Don Bodine, and sister, Paula Vick.
Pallbearers will be Royce Whaley, Kelly Pogue, Brad Pogue, Erik Shuler, Benny Whaley, and Steven Bodine.
