Obituary for Catherine Jane Price
Philadelphia: Catherine (Catie) Jane Mitchell Price, 94, passed away Sunday, May 2,
2021 in Philadelphia.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, May 11 at the Marlow
Cemetery, with Pastor Brian Holland, First Baptist Church Marlow, officiating. Burial
and all arrangements have been entrusted to Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and
Cremation Services in Marlow.
Catie was born Thursday, July 1, 1926 on Todd Hill, the family farm in Nevada County,
AR, to Carl C. and Emily Jane (Atkinson) Mitchell. She married Ronald Dale Price, a
native Oklahoman, in Las Cruces, NM on June 20, 1956, and they celebrated 57
wonderful years of marriage together until he preceded her in death on September 17,
2013. Catie earned her undergraduate degree in English and Drama from Henderson
State University in Arkadelphia, AR and was one credit shy of her master’s degree in
Education from New Mexico State University. She retired from the Alamogordo, NM
School District after 30 years teaching high school English. She enjoyed reading,
traveling, and gardening and she was a silversmith, creating pieces of jewelry from
silver and turquoise. Always optimistic and outgoing, Catie cherished family and friends
and had a deep spiritual relationship with God. Formerly a resident of Marlow, OK, she
lived in Swarthmore, PA for the last seven years with her daughter, son-in-law, and
grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her daughter, Catherine King and husband Gary of Swarthmore, PA,
2 granddaughters, Emily King and Elizabeth King, a sister, Martha Ann Payne, and a
niece, Janet Ann Potts.
Catie was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
