Rush Springs: Dennis LeRoy Porter, 61, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2020 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Cremation services will be under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Marlow, Oklahoma.
Dennis was born Tuesday, October 13, 1959 in Las Cruces, New Mexico to Charles Lawrence Porter and Mary Clara Clemons. Dennis spent most of his life in New Mexico. Dennis met and married Loretta Schmidt on June 30, 1995 in Ruidosa, New Mexico. They later moved to Rush Springs where he enjoyed working on cars, taking care of his wife, and spending time with his family. Dennis was also quite the handy man. One of Dennis' favorite things to do was to spend time outdoors whether he was hunting or fishing. Dennis loved being a ranch hand, often working seven days a week.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Clara Means of Ruidosa, New Mexico, wife Loretta Schmidt Porter of Rush Springs, OK, two daughters, Kelly Porter of Alto, NM. and Deborah Burch and husband Garland of Rush Springs, two sons, Cody and wife Wanda Porter of Lindsey, OK and Kevin Porter of Lindsey, OK, 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers, Ronnie and wife Melody Porter of Alto, NM, Henry I. and Susan Means, Jr. of Bishop, CA, 3 sisters, Linda Greer of Nogal, NM, Lorrie Pritt and husband Jim of Colorado City, CO, Amy Means of Nogal, NM, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Charles Loran Porter, and two sisters, Lola Marie Herd and Brenda Tutor.
