Obituary for Donald Edward Sorrels Sr.

Central High: Donald Edward Sorrels, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2019 in Lawton, at the age of 90.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 1, 2019, at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Marlow, with Rev. Darrell Blaine officiating. Burial will follow in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.

Donald was born Sunday, June 10, 1928 in Grady County, to E.J. and Etna (Stamper) Sorrels. He lived in the Stephens and Grady counties all of his life and graduated from Marlow High School with the Class of 1948. Donald married Opal Golightley in Marlow on November 14, 1948, who later preceded him in death. He worked as a mechanic for more than 70 years which was a great passion of his. Donald later married Lois Copeland in Marlow on May 1, 1982. He enjoyed the Gospel and country songs. Donald loved spending time with his family and going to all the family activities. He was a Sunday school teacher and a Deacon at the Nazarene Church of Marlow. Donald was a member of the Airport Assembly of God.

Survivors include, 3 sons, Donald Sorrels, Jr. and wife Brenda of Central High, Alvin Sorrels and wife Sondra of Fullshear, TX, Richard Sorrels and wife Billie of Marlow, 3 daughters, Nancy Sparks and husband Roger of Marlow, Loretta Chavis of Tuttle, Janet Rumbaugh of Tuttle, 10 grandchildren, Dustin Sorrels, Denton Sorrels, Parker Sorrels, E.J. Sorrels, Jonathan Sorrels, Chelsea Surface, Robert Rumbaugh, Sharyl Boxley, Larry Britton, Jeremy Britton, 13 great-grandchildren, Mason, Millie, Emory, Paisley, Trinity, Clayton, Duncan, Sydney, Hayden, Hannah, Addison, Rilee, and Tre. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with both of his wives, Donald was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jonna Michelle Sparks, his parents, 3 brothers, Buddy Sorrels, Leo Sorrels, Kenny Sorrels, and 2 sisters, Alta Almeda Lynch, Marie Brown.


Pallbearers will be: Dustin Sorrels, Denton Sorrels, Parker Sorrels, E.J. Sorrels, Jonathan Sorrels, and Robert Rumbaugh.
