Obituary for Dorothy Lee Pendley

Rush Springs: Dorothy Lee Pendley, 88, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2021 in Marlow.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, April 26, 2021, at the Southern Baptist Church in Rush Springs, with Rev. David Hale officiating. Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.

Dorothy was born Wednesday, March 22, 1933 in Bartlesville, to Dewey and Hazel (Stanton) Warehime. She was a graduate of Rush Springs High School. Dorothy married the love of her life, Doyle Pendley, on October 17, 1953, and they celebrated 65 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on January 17, 2016. She was co-owner of Doyle's Auto Supply, and worked there for more than 17 years, all while keeping up with their 3 sons; Jimmy, Jonny, and Jerry. Dorothy started playing the guitar at just 11 years old, and she played for the Grady County Music Band for 11 years. Her favorite music was country music, and it brought much joy to her life. Dorothy was a member of the Rush Springs Southern Baptist Church, where she served as a deacon's wife and a teacher of the women's class, for more than 33 years. Her special love was for her 6 grandchildren; Jeremy, Melissa, Cory, Jennifer, Jamie, and Ashley. Some of the things Dorothy enjoyed in life were quilting, planting her large garden, baking, and being a Sunday School teacher. Her favorite and most important things in life, was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Dorothy's absence will be felt and she will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her 3 sons, Jonny Lee Pendley and wife Renee of Rush Springs, Jimmy Doyle Pendley and wife Susan of Cave Creek, AZ, Jerry Mark Pendley and wife Michele of Carthage, NC; 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and another on the way, brother, Marvin Warehime of Bartlesville, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 4 brothers, and 3 sisters.
