Obituary for Dub Meadows

Rush Springs: G.W. "Dub" Meadows, 81, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2022 in Duncan.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, May 13, 2022, at Vimy Ridge Baptist Church, with Rev. David Hale officiating. Burial will be in the Westview Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.

Dub was born Friday, June 21, 1940 in Phoenix, AZ, to Leon and Goldie (Bratcher) Meadows. He was a 1958 graduate of Rush Springs High School. Dub lived in Rush Springs most of his life and he worked in RV repairs and sales. He married his soul mate, Shirley Garner, August 13, 1960, in Rush Springs. Dub and Shirley celebrated more than 61 years of marriage at the time of his passing. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading, and studying his Bible. Dub was also known for fixing things. Many of the locals would bring their things for repair to Dub, because he could fix anything that showed up. He loved his family more than words could ever say, and he loved spending time with them, especially his grandkids. Dub will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.

Survivors include his wife of the home; 2 daughters, Krista McKay of Norman, and Marla Hansen and husband Patrick of Midland, MI; 5 grandchildren, Kyle McKay, Kara Lee and husband Cody, Kody McKay, Axel Speers and wife Jessica, and Ian Speers; 4 great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Ethan, Peyton, and Paisley; brother, David Meadows and wife Gwen of Rush Springs; 2 sisters, Gwen Dowling and husband Max of Burkburnett, TX, sister, Sharry Mackintosh of Duncan

Dub was preceded in death by his parents, and his father and mother in law, Slim and Bessie Garner.


Memorial contributions can be made to Vimy Ridge Baptist Church Building Fund.

Pallbearers will be: Kyle McKay, Cody Lee, Ethan Lee, Kody McKay, Axel Speers, Ian Speers, and David Lynn Meadows.
