Obituary for Eddie Paul Brinkman

Eddie Paul Brinkman, 72, of Marlow passed away peacefully on October 21, 2020 in Marlow.

Services will be held at 10 AM, Monday, October 26, 2020 at the Chisholm Trail Church of Christ, with Leonard Keele and Jason Retherford officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 PM at the Prairie Hill Cemetery in Jackson County, OK under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow, Oklahoma.

Ed was born to Fred and Melba "Fern" Brinkman in Altus, OK. Ed grew up in Jackson County where he attended both the Victory and Duke Public Schools. He later went on to attend Southwestern Oklahoma State University where he attained his bachelor's degree. On July 26, 1968 Ed married the love of his life, Donna, and they were together for 52 years before his passing. Ed worked as a teacher for the Duncan Public Schools for over 32 years. He was also a member of the Chisholm Trail Church of Christ. Ed enjoyed bass fishing and participated in the local tournaments. He was very invested in helping prepare show pigs with his daughter, Kelly, and many other local kids and helped them win several breed champions. Ed was an early riser, waking every morning to have coffee and talk with his buddies for a few hours to start his day. He loved watching his grandkids play sports or cheer, and taking naps with his great grandbaby and dog. Ed will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and community.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Brinkman of the home, son, Kevin Brinkman and wife Jamie of Piedmont, OK, daughter, Kelly Ellsworth of Marlow. 5 grandchildren, Shaelynn Jones and Husband Kolton, Kyle Brinkman, Caleb, Adlee, and Katie Ellsworth, great grandson, Samson L. Jones, 2 sister-in-laws, Kitty Brinkman of Liberty, MO, cousin Gretchen Street, Terry Crabb of Mangum, OK, a brother-in-law, Jeff McKibbin and wife Brenda, nieces and nephews, Heather Caskey and husband Rocky, Jed Crabb and wife Jennifer, Jace Crabb, Brooke Drake and husband Carey, Ashlee McKibbin, and Nicholas McKibbin, and 9 great-nieces and nephews, Clara, Clayton, Karlie, Maddie, Conner, Piper, Karsten, Rilynn, and Emory.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Freddie Reid Brinkman, brother-in-law, Johnny Crabb, aunt Ophelia and husband Louis Street of Altus, and his mother and father-in-law.

Pallbearers will be: Ray Brown, Jim Hollarn, Harmon Davis, Nick Scalf, Leonard Scalf, Mike Lightner, and honorary pallbearer, Ron Newby.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association, Marlow Schools, or the Chisholm Trail Church of Christ Youth.
