Obituary

Marlow: Effie Sue Duke, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2020 in Marlow, at the age of 79.

At this time no services are scheduled and cremation has taken place at the family's request. Cremation and all arrangements have been entrusted to the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.

Effie was born Thursday, May 23, 1940 at Bear Creek, in rural Stephens County, to Arthur and Nora (Davis) Garrett. She lived in the Marlow area all of her life and had attended Bray schools. Effie married JD Wright in 1954, later divorcing. She worked as a seamstress for AOA for 10 years in Marlow. Effie later married Robert Duke in 1973; he preceded her in death in 1988 after 15 years of marriage. Effie enjoyed quilting and playing Bingo. She was an amazing artist that loved to draw and paint. Effie loved flowers and liked taking care of them. She enjoyed playing with her great-great grandchildren, whom she adored. Effie loved her family dearly and will be missed by them all.

Survivors include, 2 sons, Cloude Wright of Marlow, Condrad Wright and wife Debbie of Marlow, 6 grandchildren, Jamie Wright, Christopher Wright, Abby Wright, Miranda Wright, Sarah Wright, Rebecca Wright, several grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 sisters, Pat Lambert of Indiahoma, Betty Defibaugh of Rush Springs, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Along with her husband, Effie was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Joe Wright, her parents, brother, Conrad Wright, and a sister, Pearl Attaberry.

In lieu of flowers, memory contributions can be made for funeral expenses at BancFirst.
