Obituary for Flora Lealia Pettijohn (Howard)

Marlow: Flora Lealia Pettijohn, 92, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2023 in Marlow.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Marlow with Pastor Marty Hodges officiating. Burial will be in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.

Visitation for Flora will be at Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Marlow on Monday, August 14, 11:00 AM - 8:30 PM, and Tuesday, August 15, 8:30 AM - 8:30 PM.

Flora was born during the Great Depression to Tyrus and Delia (Sampley) Howard on April 3, 1931. She attended school at Rockie Ford and Rush Springs. Her brothers, sisters and her walked two miles to school. On June 16, 1951, she married Elmer Pettijohn in Walters, OK. They made their home west of Marlow, where they raised their family. Flora was a homemaker. She enjoyed her family, taking vacations, writing poems, having garage sales, and talking on the phone for hours with Janise. Flora was baptized as one of Jehovah's witnesses in December 1988. She enjoyed talking to people about paradise. She lived on the farm where she raised her family until 2004, when she moved to Marlow where she lived the last 18 years. Flora will be dearly missed by those who knew her.

Flora is survived by three children, Judy Hale and husband Larry, Johnny Pettijohn and wife Naomi, and Gary Pettijohn all of Marlow, 19 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren.


Flora is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Elmer Pettijohn, brothers: Rad, Cecil, Berry, Joe, and Gilbert, sisters: Margaret, Martha, and Bertie, nephew, Ernest Dale, who grew up with the family, three sons: Jerry, Jimmy, and Jackie Pettijohn, and step-daughter, Geneva McConnell.


Pallbearers will be: Steve Hale, Levi Pettijohn, Billy Pettijohn, Brent Pettijohn, L.W. McGee, and Ricky Harrelson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Aaron Pettijohn and Nathan Pettijohn.
