Duncan: Franz Horst Schmidt, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2018 in Duncan, at the age of 85.

Private Family Services have taken place. All arrangements have been entrusted to Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.

Franz was born Tuesday, May 23, 1933 in Gallenau, Germany, to Karl and Elizabeth (Franz) Schmidt. He graduated High School in Germany and went on to have a career as a general foreman over equipment maintenance for General Motors. Franz married his lovely wife Betty Ann Warren Bradley in Oklahoma City on June 21, 1991 and they had been married for 27 wonderful years. He lived in numerous areas all over the country, but spent most of his later years in Moore, Marlow, and Duncan. Franz loved flying and had his commercial pilots license. He was a talented man who very mechanical and could repair anything. He was really good at welding and designing things, and even made numerous wrought iron gates. He had even earned his HVAC license as well. He enjoyed baking and wood working. There was very little he could not do.

Survivors include, wife, Betty Ann Schmidt of Duncan, OK, step son, Shawn Bradley of Oklahoma City, step daughter, Dawn Roper and husband Mike of Hinton, 2 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, a brother, Father Peter Schmidt of St. Joseph's Abbey in Spencer, MA, and a sister, Mariane Wiper of Bend, OR.

Franz was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Heinz Schmidt, Joachim Schmidt, and a sister, Gisela Schmidt.
