Obituary for Fred Franklin Ferguson

Rush Springs: Fred Franklin Ferguson, 89, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2022 in Pawhuska.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, June 13, 2022, at the Southern Baptist Church in Rush Springs, with Rev. Lynn Parkhurst and Rev. David Hale officiating. Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.

Visitation will be at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs on Saturday from 5:00-8:30 PM, Sunday, 1:00-8:30 PM, and Monday, 8:30 AM-12:00 PM.

Fred was born Monday, November 14, 1932, to Charley and Lula (Reed) Ferguson. He lived in the Grady County area all of his life. Fred worked for himself farming and welding. He married the love of his life, Laura Crow, in Ninnekah, January 25, 1957. Fred and Laura celebrated more than 46 years of marriage together before she preceded him in death in 2004. He sold watermelons on Ferguson Corner for 27 years. Fred enjoyed telling stories with his brother Ray, and they could tell some of the best stories you'd ever hear. He was known to never turn down a meal that was being offered. Fred also had one of the kindest hearts around and was always willing to help those in need. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with his friends and family. Fred's family was the light of his life, especially his grandchildren, and he will be missed by all.

Survivors include his son, Tommy Ferguson of Rush Springs; 2 daughters, Laura Nunley and Mark Gilliland of Marlow, and Lisa Ferguson of Ada; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

In addition to his loving wife, Fred was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sons, Tony Ferguson, and Tracy Ferguson, 5 brothers, Lonnie Ferguson, R.D. Brinkley, Joe Ferguson, Curley Ferguson, and Ray Ferguson, 3 sisters, Jewell Bruner, Dovie Stiles, and Mozelle Brinkley.


Pallbearers will be Fred's grandsons: Justin Dailey, Jesse Ferguson, Adam Ferguson, Taylor Ferguson, Dylan Nunley, Coby Nunley, Dan Brinkley, Brent Pittman, Joey Wayne Ferguson, and Alan Ferguson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Dwayne Stiles and John Stiles.
