Frieda Schwartz Smithey ceased her pain and suffering and left her earthly home on December 9, 2021. She was born to Joe H. Schwartz and Marion (Marquardt) Schwartz on June 27, 1936 on a farm southeast of Waurika. During her early childhood years, the family moved around a lot before settling in the Waurika school district. At that time it was determined they actually lived in the Sugden area. She went to school there until her family moved to a farm east of Comanche and she graduated from high school in 1954. In 1953, Frieda married Roy. D. Smithey and a daughter was born in 1954. Two other daughters were born to the family in 1956 and 1957, and a son was born in 1958. In 1961, the family moved to a dairy farm west of Marlow and lived there for six years, moved away for six years, and then returned to the dairy farm. In 1975, her daughters were grown and her son was in high school and it was then she divorced her husband. In the late seventies and early eighties she worked in several nursing homes and at Halliburton. Frieda attended Red River Vo-Tech in Duncan and earned her credentials to work in home health care. She started her 25 year journey in the home health care industry in 1986 and worked there until she retired at the age of 75. Frieda liked to spend time teasing her grandkids, working in her flower gardens, watching Janette Oke movies, and listening to Bill Gaither CDs.

On March 2, 2006, Kaye Collier wrote a newspaper article in the Marlow Review featuring mom in one of her "Silent Heroes" articles. Mom dedicated her life to loving and caring for others. She truly was a silent hero and will be greatly missed by her family and everyone who knew her.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Peggy Reavis of Rush Springs, Viola Sanders of Duncan, and Beverly Rackler and husband Michael of Comanche; son, Bill Smithey and wife Phyllis of Comanche; brother, Joe C. Schwartz and wife Gail of Duncan; grandchildren, O.J. Rackler and wife Kelly and Jeremy Haney; 5 great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Robby Sheffield, and the father of her children.

To honor Frieda, memorial contributions can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
