Gary was a tremendous athlete in high school at Burns Flat. My brother Don talks of how he hated to have to go against him in football practice. He was the master of the pump fake in basketball! I spent the summer with him and Kay in 1967 in Indiana, selling Bible Libraries and learning about what awesome people they were. Over the past several years, I have watched Gary follow his kids and grandkids as they have travelled to Lindsay to compete in sports. He was always upbeat, even last month while hauling his oxygen tank with him so he he could watch those grandkids. He was a warrior, a kind and gentle man, a pharmacist ahead of his time, and a friend I will miss seeing. It will never be the same for me when Lindsay and Marlow meet. Godspeed my friend!

Doyle, I’m Angel Newberry, Gary’s #1 daughter-in-law as he would say. Some of the grandkids have wondered what his football and baseball numbers were. Kay and his brother Emory don’t remember. If so please call or text me 580/641/1453. Thanks for the kinds were of Gary! We are trying to figure out how to go on without him.

As a fellow classmate of Gary's at Burns Flat High School, I can attest to Gary's great sense of humor, perseverance, determination and high moral integrity. For good reason he was voted Class Favorite and Best All Around, traits of a good man! God bless his family at this time of great loss, especially his wonderful wife, Kay. My prayers are with you, Anna Menczkowski Dean

I share a Burns Flat connection with Gary and Kay.... My family moved to Burn Flat in 1967 renting our home from Gary’s Father. The Newberry name was one of Respect, generosity and hard work, three traits that Gary Newberry embodied as he started his business , immersed himself into the Marlow community and school while raising his competitive children. With his servant’s heart, he made time for everyone expressing genuine concern for our lives. I enjoyed his phone calls reminding us that our health was of the utmost importance. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten! Prayers of comfort for your family! Gary’s absence at the Burns Flat Eagle alumni banquet this summer will be mourned by many!
