Obituary for Gleola Fern Jones (Cowley)

Marlow: Gleola "Glee" Fern Jones, passed away Monday, March 11, 2019 in Marlow, at the age of 91.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 15, 2019, at the First Baptist Church, with Rev. Ron Maxfield and Steve Mixon officiating. Burial will follow in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.

Glee was born Friday, December 2, 1927 in Marlow, to Howard Frances and Genie (Riley) Cowley. She attended Sand Hill school and went on to graduate from Bray High School with the Class of 1945. Glee was a hairdresser for many years and had lived in the Marlow area all of her life. She married John D. Wortham and was married for 38 years before his passing. Glee later married Ashton Jones on December 5, 1987 and was married for 26 years before his passing. Glee helped in her husband's body shop as well as helped to establish the rural water district here in Stephens County. She loved to cook and can vegetables for her garden. Glee enjoyed taking care of her vegetable garden as well as enjoyed sewing and making clothes. She was a self starter and very industrious. Glee was known for being the first woman in Marlow to sell real estate and establishing her beauty shop. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and Mary Sunday school class as well as enjoyed singing in the Silvertones.

Survivors include, 2 sons, Greg Wortham and wife Dena of Marlow, Reagan Wortham of Marlow, 2 daughters, Dee Calvert of Oklahoma City, Patricia McCurley-Little and husband Eddie of Oklahoma City, 12 grandchildren, Craig Calvert, Kerri Calvert-Matheny and her husband Gunar, Brooke Wortham-Hall, Jensan Wortham, Barry Rohrbough and wife Cherokee, Shea Wortham and Lindsey Nash, Brea Wortham-VanKirk and husband Brian, Trey McCurley, Cole McCurley, Cruise McCurley and Meagan Conway, Shannon Little Rey and husband Gabe, Keisha Little Tipton and husband Ryan, and 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Marie Cannaday of Ft. Worth, TX, a sister-in-law, Myra Mell Allen of Duncan, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Along with her 2 husbands, Glee was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, Emory Cowley, Eldon "Cotton" Cowley, Leonard Cowley, 5 sisters, Irene Jackson, Lessie Wortham, Lena Mae Shelton, Maudine Jones, and Billie Mixon.


Pallbearers will be: Shea Wortham, Craig Calvert, Trey McCurley, Cole McCurley, Cruise McCurley, Brock Hall, Gunar Matheny, and Brian VanKirk.
