Obituary

Duncan: Harold Ray Basham, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2020 in Duncan, at the age of 79.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 15, 2020, at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Chickasha, with Rev. Jeremy Witt officiating. Arrangements are under the care of the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.

Harold was born Tuesday, January 28, 1941 in Chickasha, to Harold F. and Blythe M. (Neal) Basham. He started working at the young age of 15 at Fowlers Grocery Store and worked his way up from sacker to checker; this is how he paid for his college. He graduated from Central State College in Edmond with a Masters Degree and had lived in the Duncan area since 2015 previously living in the Oklahoma City area for many years. Harold was a school teacher for many years. He was a very gifted musician especially on the piano who could play totally by ear after hearing a song once. As well as the piano, Harold could also play the guitar. He was a very loving and caring person who made you feel loved without having to tell you. Harold was always doing things for others and acted like a caretaker to others. He was always seeing their needs were meant over this own. Harold was known for bringing gifts to everyone when he would visit, especially laundry soap.

Survivors include 2 sisters, Barbara G. Sanders of Duncan, Janet S. Copp of Chickasha, as well as a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents.
