Duncan: Harvey Orlando Newman Jr., passed away Monday, November 5, 2018 in Duncan, at the age of 78.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, November 9, 2018, at the First Baptist Church in Marlow, with Richy Large, Connor Newman, and Dr. Joe Ligon officiating. Burial will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow. Family Visitation will be held at 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, November 8, 2018 at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home.

Harvey was born Tuesday, October 8, 1940 in Morton, TX, to Harvey Orlando and Flora Nell (Vandever) Newman Guthrie. He attended school at Temple and lived in the Stephens County area most of his life. Harvey worked for Cable's Meat Center and Combs Meat Market for more than 30 years as a meat cutter. He married the love of his life, Wanda Melton in Bonham, Texas on May 12, 1959 and were married for 59 years. Harvey was an outdoorsman that loved to fish or going to flea markets to search for treasures. He loved to drink coffee and tell stories as well as visiting with people. Harvey enjoyed working on his family home with his wife and going to cattle auctions. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marlow.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Newman of the home, 2 sons, Robert Newman and wife Cavin of Marlow, Ronnie Newman of Duncan, 2 daughters, Lena Sessums and husband Pat of Duncan, Teresa Searcy of Waurika, 8 grandchildren, Justin Sessums, Jessica Edmond and husband Rudy, Amber Slate and husband Colt, Devon Searcy, Blaine Searcy, Connor Newman and wife Megan, Morgan Hampton, Dakota White, 6 great-grandchildren, Gracie, Jacklynn, Aaron, Piper, Remedy, and Landen. He is also survived by a brother, Wayne Newman of Rush Springs, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, Rebecca Newman, Lois Marie Taylor, Pauline Parker, 2 brothers, Eddy Lynn Newman, and Lee Roy Newman.

Pallbearers will be: Devon Searcy, Blaine Searcy, Connor Newman, Jimmy Fowler, Rudy Edmond, and Justin Sessums.

Honorary Pallbearers will be his nephews and Tom Travis.
