Obituary for Jackie Willard Lawrence

Rush Springs: Jackie Willard Lawrence, passed away Monday, May 6, 2019 in Lawton at the age of 87.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, May 18, 2019, at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs with Military Honors conducted by the Stephens County Honor Guard. All arrangements have been entrusted to Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs.

Jackie was born Sunday, April 3, 1932 in Blanco, OK, to Harvey Milton and Sylvia May (Wilcox) Lawrence. He moved to Phoenix as a young child, where he attended school at Phoenix Union High. He lived in Phoenix until 1999, when he moved back to Oklahoma and resided in Meridian and then Rush Springs. Jackie married his loving wife, Barbara Joyce Carter in California on May 6, 1952, they were married for 57 wonderful years before her passing on February 17, 2010. Jackie worked for the Salt River Project of Arizona for more than 25 years as well as serving in the United States Army as a corporal in the Korean War where he served as a typist who could type 105 wpm on a manual typewriter. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golf. He was an excellent pool player and loved Expert Cross Words and games. Jackie enjoyed watching every sport known to man as well as jeopardy and wheel of fortune. He loved big band music and could sing and could whistle like a pro. Jackie always thought of others before himself and was a caring person. He was a member of the Salt River Project fastpitch softball league in Arizona and a member of the Moose Lodge.

Survivors include, a son, Gregory Keith Lawrence and wife Sandra of Boise, Idaho a daughter, Jackie Pamela Hudson Hale and husband Thomas of Rush Springs, 7 grandchildren, Paula Charm Lawrence, Lindy Kozlowski and husband Wojtek, Melissa Nichols and husband Matt, grandson, Keith Lawrence and wife Shelby, Lester Hudson and wife Carrie, Jennifer Hoy and husband Dusty, Amber Hale and husband Loren. He is also survived by 21 Grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his wife of 57 years, Jackie was preceded in death by a son, Harvey Paul Lawrence, a grandson, Derek Lawrence, his parents, a sister, Berneice Lemons, and a brother, Harvey Joe Lawrence.
