Obituary for James Douglas Jones

Marlow: James Douglas "Doug" Jones, 78, passed away Friday, December 31, 2021, in Marlow.

Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 5 at the Marlow Cemetery, with Brother Sam Buzzard of Central Baptist Church officiating. Burial and all arrangements have been entrusted to Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.

Doug was born Thursday, October 21, 1943, in Waurika, to Otis and Roma (Boland) Jones. He was a graduate of Central High School and attended college at Central State. Doug lived in the Stephens County area most of his life and worked many years for Sarah Lee Bread Co. He married the love of his life, Glenda Jean Payne, in Edmond on June 15, 1962. They celebrated almost 50 years of marriage before she preceded him in death in 2011. Doug enjoyed gardening and watching his kids and grandkids play sports. He never missed any of their games and even coached baseball. Doug loved his family more than words could ever express and he will be dearly missed.

Doug will be remembered for his gifts of love, generosity, kindness, encouragement, and most of all his laugh.

Survivors include 2 sons, Robert Jones and wife Michele of Central High, and Kenneth Jones and wife Robin of Duncan, 5 grandchildren, Jordan, Jessica, Janae, Gabrielle, and Rhaylee, great-grandchild, Julius, and brother, Olen Jones and wife Charlene of Brenham, TX

In addition to his loving wife, Doug was preceded in death by his parents, son, Jeffrey Scott Jones, daughter, Susan Jones, brother, Raymond Otis Jones, and sister, Irene Marshall
