Obituary for Karl Ray Pate

Marlow: Karl Ray Pate, 76, passed away Monday, February 13, 2023 in Chickasha.

Karl will be laid to rest in Indiana this summer. Cremation and all arrangements have been entrusted to Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.

Karl was born Sunday, May 12, 1946 in Mitchell, IN, to Willard and Virginia (Goldsberry) Pate. He was a graduate of Tunnelton High School in Bedford, IN. Karl worked in the propane business and was employed by Mangum Oil and Gas for more than 15 years until retiring in 2010. He moved to Marlow in 1977 and lived here for 45 years before moving to Chickasha in 2022. Karl married Rebecca Ann McCullough, September 21, 1981, in Wichita Falls, TX. He and Rebecca celebrated more than 29 wonderful years of marriage together until she preceded him in death on March 25, 2011. Karl enjoyed tinkering outside, gardening, and he was an avid deer hunter. He enjoyed going to his friend's farm and helping him work his cattle and haul hay. Karl was dearly loved and will be missed by many.

Survivors include his 2 sons, Shannon Pate and Jerry Pate, both of Greenfield, IN, daughter, Tawnya Sons of Bedford, IN, step-children, Dianne Stegner and husband Charles of Marlow, Clarence "Billy" Burton of Liberty, TX, Terri Ritchison and husband Doug of Bedford, IN, and Joanne Spaulding and husband James of Bedford, IN, grandsons, Justin Sons of Bedford, IN and Jason Taylor and wife Ashley of Georgetown, TX, great grandchildren, Stratton Taylor, Harris Taylor, Tru Taylor, and Theron Taylor of Georgetown, TX, great niece, Elizabeth Dysart and husband Chet of Comanche, great-nephews, Jeremy Fields and wife Faye of Las Vegas, NV, C.J. Fields and wife Victoria of Bedford, IN, great niece, Jennifer Fields and companion April of Bedford, IN, great-great-niece, Paityn Speer, great-great-nephew, Benlee Lassley of Comanche, great-great-nephew arriving in May, Paxton Fields of Bedford, IN, and numerous aunts, uncles, and, nieces, and cousins.

In addition to his wife Rebecca, Karl was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Karen Porter, and step daughter, Teresa Taylor.
