Obituary for Kenneth Myrl Archer

Rush Springs: Kenneth "Sambo" Myrl Archer, 91, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2022 in Rush Springs.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, March 28, 2022, at the Bailey Community Church, with Terry Beard officiating. Burial will be in the Bailey Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday, March 26, 8:30 AM-830 PM, and Sunday, March 27, 1:00-8:30 PM.

The family will be receiving visitors on Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Sambo was born Saturday, April 5, 1930 in Bailey, to John Thomas.and Hester Evelyn (Todd) Archer. He was a Korean War Graduate of Bray High School. Sambo lived in the Bailey community most of his life. He lived in Cox City for 16 years until he decided to build on the Archer home place in 1972, and made it his forever home. Sambo married his best friend and soulmate, Mary Ann Sherrill, on March 9, 1956 in Cox City. He and Mary celebrated just over 66 years of marriage at the time of his passing. Sambo proudly served his country for 4 years in the Korean War and his time was spent on the USS Agerholm (DD826) Ship. During his time in the Navy, he earned a Korean Service Ribbon, China Service Ribbon, United Nations Service Medal, and a Navy Occupational Service Medal. Sambo was a farmer, welder, and did custom harvesting for more than 20 years. His work took him to various states working on farms. Sambo was a member of the Bailey Community Church and was also a member of the American Legion. He was a man of many skills and could do just about anything. Sambo enjoyed woodworking and selling his work at different craft shows. Most of all, he loved his family and enjoyed their time together making memories to last a lifetime. Sambo will be deeply missed by all.

Sambo leaves behind his wife of the home; 2 sons, Kenneth Archer and wife Gina, and Harold Archer and wife Beverly;daughter, Debbie Archer O'neal; 7 grandchildren and 2 bonus grandchildren, Amanda Archer, Brian Archer, Cassie Hill and husband Kyle, Dani Moore and husband Blake, Andrea Pinkerton and husband Matthew, T.J. Archer and wife Maegan, Trevor Archer and wife Kelsey, Kelley O'neal Miller and husband Edward, and Holly Bradford and husband Mark; 13 great grandchildren and 7 bonus great-grandchildren, Erin, Faith, Nicole, Kell, Brilynn, Karsen, Kylen, David, John, Aaron, Thea, Rhett, Lyla, Max, John, Alex, Addison, Landon, Rachel, and Zailey; and sister-in-law, Betty Todd.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Melton Archer, Harold Archer, and JT Archer, 4 sisters, Edna F. Dorsey, Dorothy Selman, Helen Bower, and Billy Sue Boydston, and son-in-law, Ken O'Neal.

Pallbearers will be: Kenneth Archer, Harold Archer, Brian Archer, T.J. Archer, Trevor Archer, and Blake Moore.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Charles Archer, Kenneth Mayes, Ron Toby, Roger Whitehead, Bobby Stewart, and Lorin Nelson.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Bailey Community Church Building Fund at 1734 County Rd 1590, Rush Springs, OK 73082.
