Obituary for Kenneth Dale Mayes

Rush Springs: Kenneth "Ken" Dale Mayes, 82, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2022 in Rush Springs.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, September 2, 2022, at Glory Bound Church, with Rev. David Woods officiating. Burial will be in the Bailey Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.

Visitation will be at Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Marlow, Wednesday, August 31, 8:30AM - 8:30 PM and Thursday, 8:30 AM - 8:30 PM.
The family will be accepting visitors at the Chapel on Thursday evening from 6-8 PM

Ken was born Sunday, October 22, 1939 in Rush Springs, to Herman and Callie (Stults) Mayes. He attended schools at Cox City, Bailey, and Central High. Ken also attended college at Cameron University. He lived in the Rush Springs area most of his life and spent his life working as a farmer and working on the pipeline. Ken married the love of his life, Betty Lou Bandy, on May 2, 1959 in Marlow. He and Betty celebrated more than 63 wonderful years of marriage together. Ken enjoyed farming and gardening, and growing tomatoes and watermelon. He also enjoyed watching OU football and napping. Ken could often be found with a diet cherry Dr. Pepper in his hand and he loved eating homemade tamales. He loved his family and any time he got to spend with them, especially his grandkids. Ken will be deeply missed by all.

Survivors include his wife of the home; son, Kenneth Dale Mayes Jr. and wife Dawn of Bray; 2 daughters, Connie Lou Turner and husband Ted of Bray, and Tammy Lynn Perez and husband Juan of Bray; 9 grandchildren, Zac Hinkel and wife Nici, Kali Hinkel and husband Jeremy, Jenni Blackburn and husband Bradon, Trey Mayes and wife Amber, Johnny Perez and wife Kali, Bettye Martinez and husband Jesus, Jordan Mayes and wife Piper, Logan Mayes and wife Courtney, and Greg Perez and wife Allyson; 11 great-grandchildren, Kagan Mayes, Addy Mayes, Abi Perez, Brady Joe Blackburn, Karson Mayes, Kinley Mayes, Jaylee Blackburn, A.J. Perez, Bailyn Blackburn, Lakelynn Mayes, and Ava Mayes; 4 sisters-in-law, Jo Mayes, Marcella Mayes, Glynda Taylor, and Sondra Doty; Amy and Clinton Johnson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Dewayne Mayes, Clyde Mayes, and Bill Mayes, and sister, Ann Morriston.


Pallbearers will be: Greg Perez, Johnny Perez, Bradon Blackburn, Trey Mayes, Jordan Mayes, Logan Mayes, Jesus Martinez, and Jeremy Hicks-Kachik.
