Obituary for Leroy Basil Hatfield Jr.
Rush Springs: Leroy B. Hatfield Jr. , 93, passed away Monday August 8, 2022 in Duncan.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs. All arrangements have been entrusted to Callaway Smith Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.
LeRoy was born July 30, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY and lovingly raised by his adopted parents George and Jean DeBell. After attending Berkshire Farm School he enlisted in the United States Army from 1951- 1954. He then transferred to the US Air Force and served from 1954- 1976 when he retired from the military but enjoyed working as a civilian on base for many years after. LeRoy was a member of the American Legion and VFW Post 9969 where he proudly served as Vice Commander. Although he missed traveling he enjoyed working in his yard and garden.
LeRoy is survived by his best friend and wife of nearly 30 years, Shirley (Parish) Hatfield, his children Druscilla (Heidi) Hatfield Diehl, Peter W. Hatfield and Jeffery S. Eagle, grandson Sean K. Hatfield and nieces Cindy May, Meridith Reynard and Leslie Hinchcliffe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers John DeBell, David DeBell, Nicholas Temperly and sister Patsy O'Niel.
LeRoy will be missed by many.
