Obituary for Lynda Gay Jones
Duncan: Lynda Gay Jones, 73, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2022 in Oklahoma City.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, September 23, 2022, at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Marlow, with Rev. David Standifer and Rev. Ronnie Pigg officiating. All arrangements have been entrusted to Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.
Lynda was born Saturday, December 25, 1948 in Duncan, OK, to J.W. and Dorothy Juanita (Bishop) Jones. After graduating from Velma she moved to Houston, TX where she drove hot shot delivering parts. Following her time in Texas she lived in Aberdeen, WA, where she spent most of her adult life. Lynda loved the coast and enjoyed spending time with friends. She worked as a machinist and as a school bus driver for Head Start. She loved the kids on her route and liked to tell stories of their shenanigans. Lynda had a love for dogs, especially dachshunds, and worked as a groomer. Lynda moved back to Oklahoma around 2010 and lived in the Duncan Plaza where she made great friends. She enjoyed spending time with friends and collecting lighthouse and school bus figurines. Lynda was also very passionate about Native American History and collecting Indian artifacts. Lynda will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
Survivors include nephew, Keith Prater of Bray, brother-in-law, Bruce Prater of Marlow, and niece, Amy Lindsey and husband Bruce of Pinedale, WY.
Lynda was preceded in death by her parents and sister.
