Obituary for Margie Lee Rigdon
Duncan: Margie Lee Rigdon, 84, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023 in Duncan.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 23, 2023, at the First United Methodist Church in Marlow, with Dale Nease and Doyle Sharp officiating. Burial will be in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services.
Marge Lee Rigdon (Harmeyer) passed on March 16, 2023. She was born on July 15, 1938 to JD and Grace Harmeyer. She grew up in Bray and helped work on the family dairy farm with her sisters Jane (Watkins), Carolyn (Harmeyer), June (Kreiger) and brother Lynn. She played basketball for Bray High School. Marge met and dated the love of her life Ralph Rigdon, a Marlow boy. They married in June of
1956 and were together for 64 years until Ralph’s death in 2020. Ralph and Marge moved to San Diego, CA in 1956, where Ralph was stationed in the Navy. They were transferred to Kingsville, TX and welcomed their first daughter Shelly (McKinley) in 1959. They then moved to Duncan. Marge was an active stay at home mom. She was the Girl Scout leader of Shelly’s troop at Emerson Elementary School. She also coached girls’ basketball at Emerson for a few years until she went to work after welcoming a second daughter, Stacy in 1970. She went to work in the office for Anthony’s, then Stage, until she retired after 25 years.Though she retired, she kept active. She liked attending aerobic classes at the Simmons Center, was a volunteer for the Duncan Toy Shop, and served on the board for the Stephens
County Museum. She was a member of the red hat society which caused Ralph to comment about all of her red hats. She was a friend to the Duncan Public Library and was an avid reader.
She and Ralph had season tickets for many years for the OU girls basketball games. She also delighted in watching the OU football games as well as listening to them. No matter what sport, if OU was playing on TV, then she was viewing the games. She was ecstatic that the OU girls softball team won so many championships. Marge was an active member of the Stephen’s United Methodist Church. There, she was a Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir. She enjoyed being a member of Church Women United and the United Methodist Women. When the church closed, she attended the First United Methodist Church of Marlow. Marge’s daughter, Shelly and her husband JD (McKinley) moved to Woodstock, NY in 1987. Marge was thrilled to embrace her first grandchild, a granddaughter Morgan (McKinley) in 1990.
Her daughter Stacy Moore gave her two more grandchildren, another granddaughter Mollee (McGuire) in 1996 and a grandson Garrett (McGuire) in 2000. Marge’s favorite time was being with her grandchildren and spoiling them. Though she usually only got to see her granddaughter Morgan once a year for she lived in New York, they made the most of their time together. Morgan and her Nanny would go to Braum’s for a cherry limeade, after riding the train and merry go round at Kiddieland Park. Garrett and Mollee lived in Duncan until the death of their mother Stacy, they then went to live with their father in Springer. While
they were in Duncan, Marge was very active in their lives, picking them up from school and attending their sports games. They were at the house frequently being pampered by their Nanny and Poppy. She will be missed and cherished by all of her remaining family.
She was preceded in death by her parents JD and Grace Harmeyer, husband Ralph, daughter
Stacy, sister June (Kreiger), sister in law Judy (Harmeyer) and brother in law John Watkins.
She is survived by daughter Shelly (JD McKinley) of West Hurley, NY and granddaughter Morgan
(McKinley) of NYC, Mollee (McGuire) Ardmore, Garrett (Ricki) McGuire, Ardmore, sister Jane
(Watkins) Duncan, Carolyn (Harmeyer) Arizona, brother Lynn (Clarise) Marlow and many nieces
and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Richard Cox, Jeremy Gage, Kyle Harmeyer, Michael Kreiger, Jay Watkins and Joe Watkins,
