Obituary for Mary Ann Elwood
Marlow: Mary Ann Elwood, 80, passed away Friday, December 16, 2022 in Marlow.
Memorial Services will be planned at a later date. Cremation and all arrangements have been entrusted to Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.
Mary was born Sunday, December 28, 1941 in Oklahoma City, to Gorrell H. and Ruby (Nee Rutz) Cole. She lived the majority of her life in Marlow, OK, where she cared for her parents, children, and grandchildren, as well as being a cook at several local restaurants. Mary enjoyed cooking and gardening, and she loved her cats, as well as caring for other animals. She was an amazing woman who dedicated much of her life to caring for her family and helping raise several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was a huge influence in her children's and grandchildren's lives. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her sons, Danny Maddux, Marvin Maddux, and Jerry Joe Elwood, her daughter and son in law, JoAnn and Roy Stringfellow, her sisters, Carol Himes and Bonnie Coker and brother in law Jerry Coker. She is also survived by several grandchildren including Traci Maddux, Jenni Barnett, Danielle Maddux, Miranda Stringfellow, Braden Stringfellow, Katrina Nelson, and Logan and Brian Elwood and multiple nieces and nephews. She also had several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and was especially close to her great-granddaughter, Amarie Stringfellow. She had another great-grandchild due in July.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Joe Elwood, Sr., her brother, Archie Cole, her youngest sister, Nancy Riley, 2 grandsons, Danny Maddux Jr. and Jeramy Maddux, and 2 granddaughters, Beverly Jo Maddux and Pepsi Archmabeau.
