Marlow: Melvin Eugene Payne, 81, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2023 in Meridian.

Melvin was born Thursday, April 10, 1941 in Hinton, OK, to James and Mary Payne. He attended Hinton Public Schools while growing up. Melvin worked as a tool pusher in the oil field for more than 25 years. He lived in Elk City until moving to Marlow more than 20 years ago. Melvin enjoyed woodworking, helping his son in law remodel their home, watching the news, and talking politics. He also enjoyed being outdoors and hunting and fishing, and he loved his dogs. Melvin loved his family and valued any time he got to spend with them.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Patricia Allen and husband Kenneth of Chickasha, and Prisilla Jones and husband Steve of Marlow, 4 grandchildren, Chris, Jeffry, Shannon, and Ethan, 4 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings.
