Obituary for Merl Martin Smith
Rush Springs: Merl Martin Smith, 72, passed away Monday, April 12, 2021 in Rush Springs.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, April 19, 2021, at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Chapel in Rush Springs, with Rev. Jordy McKaskle officiating. Cremation and all arrangements have been entrusted to Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.
Merl was born Thursday, July 1, 1948 in Provo, Utah, to Lot and Lola (Quinton) Smith. He had lived in the Grady County area for the last 9 years, and was employed by Wal-Mart as a truck driver. Merl married Andrea Michelle Forbes on October 25, 2008, in Las Vegas. They celebrated more than 12 years of marriage before his passing. Merl enjoyed watching movies, fishing, camping, and gardening in his spare time. Most importantly, he loved his family, and loved spending time with them. He will be deeply missed.
Survivors include, wife, Andrea Smith of the home, 2 sons, Jesse Burton and wife Katie of Edmond, and Zacharia Summers and wife Skyla of Duncan, 2 daughters, Chenoa Bates of the home, and Christina Burton and husband Darius of Mustang, 10 grandchildren, Nathaniel, Phillip, Billy, Cameron, Carmen, Layla, Kaiden, Evie, Ezekial, and Kamoura, brother, Tony Smith of OR., sister, Judy Fairbanks and husband David of TX., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Merl was preceded in death by his parents.
