Obituary for Phyllis Nichols (Hedin)

Duncan: Phyllis Ann Nichols, 77, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2020 in Marlow.


At the request of the family, cremation has taken place and services will be held at a later date. All arrangements and cremation has been entrusted to Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Marlow.

Phyllis was born Wednesday, January 6, 1943 in Chicago, IL, to Gunner and Mary (Whalen) Hedin. She lived much of her life in the Chicago, Illinois area and attended Mt. Greenwood School but had spent the last 45 years in Stephens County. Phyllis met and married Louie Nichols in Duncan on September 20, 1979 and they were married for 39 years before he preceded her in death on September 29, 2018.

Phyllis was a member of the Water Garden Society. Although Phyllis may be best known as a landscaper, she had many other interests as well. She was a talented crafter and artist. She enjoyed working with concrete and turning things into art, and she also enjoyed sewing. Phyllis favorite joy was spending time with her family and friends whether one on one or having a good party.

Phyllis was a hard working, creative and loving soul who will be greatly missed.

Survivors include daughter, Marcine Taylor and husband Will of Marlow, son, Don (Scooter) Scarbrough and wife Teresa of Marlow, Grandaughter Amanda Tahah and husband Robbie, Grandson Colton Renfro and wife Bailie, grandson Seth Scarbrough, Grandaughter Hannah Scarbrough, Grandson Hunter Scarbrough and 2 great grandchildren, along with her sisters, Marilyn Anderson of Los Angeles, CA. and Joan Allen and husband Jack of Huntsville, AL

She was preceded in death by her husband Louie Nichols, and son Shawn Scarbrough.
