Obituary for Ralston Irvin Acrey

Rush Springs: Ralston Irvin Acrey, 98, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2022 in Duncan.

There are no services planned at this time. All arrangements have been entrusted to Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.

Ralston Irvin Acrey passed peacefully to Heaven on May 22, 2022, at 3:00 AM in Duncan Regional Hospital after a short stay there. He did not linger and was able to remain at home until that time.
Ralston was born to Ira Oscar and Lilly Florence (Hale) Acrey on November 14, 1923 in Marlow Hospital. He was 98 years old. He graduated with the class of 1943 at Rush Springs High. He saw many changes in this world but remained steadfast; living close to home, his family, and the land he loved. He worked in his youth in the Oregon timber industry and the oil industry in Oklahoma. He was the accounting produce manager at Price's Grocery and manager of the City Cafe, both in Marlow. He was raised as a farmer and worked as such for most of his life. He will be sorely missed for his dry wit, his common sense, and knowledge of the many things he gained over his 98 years. He was honest and forthright and had a heart of gold. Ralston loved visiting family, neighbors, and friends at any local cafe. He prided himself in growing tasty produce and beautiful flowers. If the sun was shining, he would be outside working in his garden until his last days.

Survivors are cousin, Bonnie Hale McCauley; niece, Cynthia (Thannisch) Young; nephews, Chris and Tim Thannisch; the Hale-Acrey Cousins; very special support friends who kept him happy and safe are Tammy Brandstatt family, Samantha Gore-Love family, Brandon Gore, and Kristen, his home health nurse. Without these and other supportive neighbors and friends, he would not have been able to remain at home. Thank you to all.

Ralston was preceded in death by his parents, Lilly and Ira Acrey; 2 sisters, Letty Wallace and Sylvia Larsen; 3 nephews, Larry Moore, Anthony Thannisch, and Jesse Thannisch; and lifelong friend, Kenneth Cowan. Ralston is joining them free from pain and at peace in Heaven at last.
