Obituary for Recil Calvin Troxel

Marlow: Recil Calvin Troxel, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2020 in Marlow, at the age of 93.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at the Glory Bound Church, with Rev. David Woods officiating. Burial will follow in the Marlow Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Stephens County Honor Guard. All arrangements have been entrusted to the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.

Recil was born Saturday, April 17, 1926 in Ninnekah, to Cecil Oliver and Sarah Callie (Doyle) Troxel. He had lived in the Marlow area all of his life in the home that he built for the last 56 years. Recil married the love of his life, Ida Lee Blundell in Duncan on December 24, 1949; they were married for 55 wonderful years before Ida's passing on January 19, 2005. Recil retired from the State of Oklahoma Highway Department after many years of operating heavy equipment. He was a well known WWII Veteran after receiving numerous birthday cards for his 93rd birthday last year, becoming famous all over the world. Recil enjoyed going for drives and could be seen enjoying the day driving around the lakes. He liked going to flea markets to look for treasures and enjoyed wood working as well as watching TV. Recil was a "sweets" man and loved his Dr.Pepper. Recil's favorite time was just spending time with his family. He was a member of the Glory Bound Church in Marlow.

Survivors include, a son, Donald Ray Troxel and wife Shirl of Ratliff City, 2 daughters, Sharon Kay Cartwright and husband Randy of Kearney, MO, Elizabeth Ann Anderson of Marlow, 7 grandchildren, Tracy Nichols, Randy Cartwright, Nikki Anderson, Jenny Rivera, Courtney Troxel, Brent Cartwright, Julie Myers, 14 great-grandchildren, Whitney, Meagan, Justin, Kaylee, Eric, Callie, Kasen, Gracie, Cashton, Aiden, Brenley, Ashelynn, Blake, Ryker, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, Kevin and Mason. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many great friends that loved him.

Along with his wife, Recil was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, J.W. Troxel.

Pallbearers will be: Randy Cartwright, Brent Cartwright, Gary Nichols, Bobby Philpott, Stan Blundell, and Mike Blundell.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: great-grandsons and great-great-grandsons.
