Obituary for Ronald Clair Sparks

Marlow: Ronald Clair Sparks, 84, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022 in Duncan.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral And Cremation Service. Burial will be in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow, Oklahoma.

Visitation for Ronald will be at the funeral home on Monday, April 11, 5:00 PM-8:30 PM, and Tuesday, April 12, 8:30 AM-8:30 PM.

The family will be accepting visitors at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM, weather permitting.


Ronald was born Thursday, February 10, 1938 in Marlow, to Ray Clair and Fay June (Bishop) Sparks. He lived in Marlow most of his life. Ronald worked as an Aviation Electrician. He was a proud member of the United States Navy. He did 5 different tours in Vietnam, and he was actively involved in all military branches. Ronald married the love of his life, Priscilla "Polly" Nevels, in Lawton, on April 28, 1955. He and Polly shared more than 48 wonderful years of marriage. Ronald was an active member in the VFW Squadron 141 and the NRA. He was a speed reader and could retain about 90 of what he had read. Ronald enjoyed shooting, fishing, telling stories to his family, and history. He loved his family the most, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids, and he never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. Ronald will be deeply missed by many.

Survivors include daughter, Ronda Pauline Meadows and husband David of Marlow; son, Ronald "Lucky" Sparks and wife Jenny of Duncan; 7 grandchildren, Kara Choate and husband Chad, Kasi Bickerstaff, Claire Sparks, Jett Sparks, Chad Meadows, Whitnee Daffron, and Micah Thompson; 8 great-grandchildren, Justin, Mason, Braeden, Roz, Margo, Sutton, Smith, and Sienna; 3 sisters, Ruedell Wilkes of Marlow, Paula Maples of Wichita Falls, TX, and Fran Alltizer of Lawton; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

In addition to his wife, Polly, Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Karen Kriezel, and great-grandson, Cyrus Douglas Choate.

Pallbearers will be: Chad Choate, Jett Sparks, Ronald "Lucky" Sparks, David Meadows, Shedrick King, and Anthony Smith

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jimmy Sparks, Rick Sparks, Darrell Sparks, and Harold Wilkes Jr.
