Granfield: Ruby Marie Cole, 99, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2022 in Granfield.
Ruby Marie Cole passed on September 17 th , 20 22 at 11:49 am. Funeral services will be held at Calloway-Smith-Cobb funeral home on September 27, 2022, at 2 pm. Viewing hours will be on September 25th and 26th. Services will be performed by Brother Wes Balthrop and Brother Dennis Kendrick, of The Rock United Pentecostal Church in Marlow. She will be interred at Marlow Cemetery directly after the services, under the direction of Calloway-Smith-Cobb. Pall bearers will be Braden Stringfellow, Roy Stringfellow, Logan Elwood , Jerry Elwood, Jr., Joseph McFarland and Archie Cole, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Joy Carpenter, Jr., Jimi Burkett, AJ Burkett, John Paul White, Marvin Maddux, and Dan Maddux.
Ruby Marie (Rutz) Cole was born to Archie and Myrtle Mae (Norman) Rutz on June 22, 1923 in Oklahoma. She married Gorrell H. Cole in 1939. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great-grandmother. She had 5 children, raised 3 of her granddaughters as her own, and helped raise and influence dozens of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, including creating memories with many of them at church camp.
She is survived by her daughters Mary Elwood, Bonnie Coker (husband Jerry), Carol Himes, Tammy White ( husband Cash), Veronica Burkett (husband Perry), and Shannon Brown (husband Lee Roy) and her grandchildren Dan Maddux (wife Pat), Marvin Maddux, JoAnn Stringfellow (husband Roy), Jerry Elwood, Jr., Archie Cole Jr.(wife Darla), Erick Peterson (wife Christein), Earl Himes, Jr.( (wife Laura) , Otis Himes (wife Alison), Elzie Himes (wife Kristine), Kasey Hood(husband Cliff), Dianne Carlock (husband Hank), and Boyd Coker (wife Wanette). For the last years of her life she was cared for by Mary Elwood, JoAnn Stringfellow, Tammy White and Miranda Stringfellow. She was a faithful member of the United Pentecostal Church of Marlow for many, many years. She was an avid gardener who loved nothing more than to be outside, growing things. She loved animals and children and had a strong devotion to her family and God.
She is preceded in death by her husband,Gorrell H. Cole, her son, Archie Cole Sr., her youngest daughter Nancy Cole Riley, and sons in law Jerry Joe Elwood and Earl Himes, Sr., granddaughters Phyllis Jeanette (PJ) Cole Donna Peleer (husband Gerald), Pepsi Maddux, and BJ Maddux, grandson Jerry Thomas Coker, Jr. (Boog), great grandsons Aaron Keith Carlock, Logan Clark, Jeramy Maddux and Joseph Carpenter and her siblings. She will be deeply missed.
