Obituary for Shirley Mae Stewart Kennedy

Oklahoma City: Shirley Mae Stewart Kennedy, 92, passed away Friday, December 31, 2021 in Oklahoma City.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 PM, Friday, January 7, 2022, at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow, with Rev. Lynn Parkhurst officiating. Burial will be in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.

The family respectfully requests that masks be worn by all who attend Shirley''s service.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 5, from 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM, and Thursday, January 6, from 8:30 AM - 8:30 PM.

Shirley was born Monday, November 25, 1929 at the family home located at Saddle Mountain, to Albert Earl and Maggie Lee (Moody) Stewart. She earned her high school diploma from Cache School and attended Wesley School of Nursing, earning her license to be a Registered Nurse. She immediately continued her education at Baylor to become a CRNA/nurse anesthetist. Shirley was head of the anesthesia department at Presbyterian Hospital for 45 years. She married Leonard Merl Kennedy in Oklahoma City, in 1953, and they celebrated 46 years of marriage together. Shirley was a member of the Oklahoma Horticulture Society, the Apogan Club, and Beta Sigma Fi. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, quilting, and sewing. Shirley had an endless amount of love for her family, especially her grandkids. She will be missed by all.


Survivors include her son Patrick Kennedy and wife Denise of OKC, daughter, Catherine Bartodej and husband Joel of Bethany, 4 grandchildren, Chris, Sean Jason, and Jessica, 6 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Martha Stewart, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her loving husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Bud Stewart and Don Stewart, and 3 sisters, LaDean Taylor, Georgie Miller, and Sue Willoughby.

Pallbearers will be: Chris Brum, Sean Brum, Jason Kennedy, Jessica Kennedy, Joel Bartodej, and Alvaro Pacheco.
