Obituary for William Arthur Justus

Bailey: William Arthur Justus passed away Friday, June 26, 2020 in his home at the age of 86.

Graveside Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at the Bailey Cemetery with Rev. Preston Hawkins officiating. All arrangements have been entrusted to the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow. The family will be receiving friends at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home on Monday, June 29, 2020 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

William was born Thursday, February 8, 1934 in Bailey, Oklahoma to Arthur Bryson and Violet Viola (Todd) Justus. He lived in the Bailey area all of his life and attended schools at Bailey and Cox City. William married the love of his life, Gladys Mae Riley, in Cox City on August 29, 1953. They were married for 65 wonderful years before Gladys’ passing on September 22, 2018. William was a lifelong farmer and rancher who enjoyed working on his antique John Deere tractor. He loved riding horses and roping. William served on the Board of Directors at the Marlow Farmer’s CO-OP for many years and on the Bray School Board for approximately 10 years. William was a member of the Bailey Community Church and served as a deacon at the church for many years. He loved to bird hunt and simply enjoy the outdoors, but his true joy in life was spending quality time with his family. 

Survivors include 3 sons, Barry Justus and wife Lorie of Rush Springs, Greg Justus and wife Debbie of Marlow, Stephen Justus and wife Kim of Duncan, a daughter, Brenda Pendley and husband Boyd of Rush Springs, a sister, Hazel Alexander of Levelland, TX, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his wife, William was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Tyler Wood, his parents, and 2 sisters, Edna Myrl Harrison, Mary Helen Lamb.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Rebecca, Jada, and Tasha who provided exceptional care of William in his home during his final years of life.
