Obituary for Winona F. "Penny" Lindsey Smith

Rush Springs: Winona F. "Penny" Smith, 87, passed away Sunday, June 6, 2021 in Rush Springs.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs, with Rev. David Hale officiating. Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.

Penny was born Friday, December 22, 1933 in Rush Springs, to Roy and Bessie M (Hooper) Lindsey. She was a graduate of Rush Springs High School. Penny lived in Rush Springs at the family farm all of her life, and spent her life being a homemaker. She met the love of her life, Leo A. Smith, and they married on June 16, 1951 in Rush Springs. Penny and Leo celebrated 55 wonderful years of marriage, until he preceded her in death on March 31, 2007. She enjoyed sewing, painting, gardening, flowers, and she collected carnival glasses and antiques. Penny was also a member of the Monarch Study Club. Most importantly, she loved her kids and grandkids, and spending time with them.

Survivors include, son, Waylon Smith and wife Mitzie of Marlow, daughter, Francene Coffman and husband Robert of Rush Springs, 2 grandchildren, Lebeth Beene and husband BA of Rush Springs, Ben Coffman and Wife Sara of Rush Springs, 5 great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Beene, Payton Beene, Hadley Beene, Myla Coffman, and Brecken Coffman. Penny also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 3 brothers, Vernon Lindsey, Jimmie Lindsey, and Eldon Lindsey, and sister, Dorothy J. Lindsey Jones.


Pallbearers will be: Joe Kuntz, David Kuntz, Jealena Himes, and Don Mileur.
