Obituary for Yvonna Joybelle Reed (Rice)

Duncan: Yvonna Joybelle Reed, 83, passed away Monday, November 16, 2020 in Duncan.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 20, 2020 at Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Marlow with Rev. Fred Bailey officiating. Burial will be in the Erin Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services of Marlow.

Yvonna was born in Foster, OK on August 23, 1937 to Timothy T. and Mabel (Hafer) Rice.

Yvonna Reed (Von) graduated from Chickasha High School in 1955 and remained friends with several classmates all of her life. She worked as a receptionist at the Holiday Inn in Chickasha and Sentry Manufacturing also in Chickasha. She was also a homemaker and seamstress and loved to sew and make crafts and was a member of crafting clubs in Duncan and Lawton for over 20 years. She attended all the area craft shows and county fairs selling her hand sewn items from dresses and tea towels to raggedy Ann and Andy’s. If she saw something, she could whip it right up, even without a pattern.

First and foremost, Yvonna was a devoted Christian and follower of Jesus Christ. She played the piano and accordion and also loved to sing. Her greatest joy was to share her love of music in church, revivals and Chisholm Trail Assisted Living where she was living. During the covid crises, no one could hold church for the residents, so Yvonna would have a song list in hand and every Sunday would go early to lunch to play the piano and sing hymns. She did this up to the Sunday before she passed away.

Yvonna shared the same love for music as a pianist and vocalist and that passion for music transferred to her children and many others as well. Jonathan is a drummer and plays for multiple church services weekly. Its true to say Yvonna’s musical passion will continue to live on through her family and memories shared with friends too.

Yvonna loved all of her grandchildren, she always had pictures to show everyone. She remembered every birthday and was faithful to send cards for all occasions.

Yvonna is going to be deeply missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to thank Dr. Waters and staff, The Chisholm Trail Assisted Living, Allure Home Health, Duncan Wound Care, Duncan Regional Hospital, The Beautiful Day Foundation, and countless friends who have helped Yvonna live the best quality of life with all the health issues she courageously fought. May the Blessings of the Lord be with each of you.
