Obituary

Doris Jean Pannell, 87, of Oklahoma City, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 8,
2021 while in hospice care due to complications from a stroke.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be planned at a later date. Cremation
and all arrangements have been entrusted to Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services of
Marlow.

Jean was born January 18, 1934 to Henry Cecil White and Vera May (Tarrant) White of
Marlow. One of seven children, she lived much of her life in the Marlow-Duncan area. She
attended grade school at Gatlin and graduated from Marlow High School in 1951. She
married Billy Thomas “Tommy” Pannell on July 12, 1953 after meeting at the Duncan
Skating Rink. They were married 58 years and had one son, Alan Kent Pannell.

Jean worked at Halliburton for 35 years and retired from the International Accounting
department. She was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Duncan for many
years. After retirement, Jean and Tommy moved to Sun City West, Arizona before
eventually returning to Marlow. Among her many hobbies were bowling, traveling,
gardening, sewing, ceramics, and playing country gospel music on the guitar and
mandolin.

Survivors include her son, Alan Pannell of Moore, brothers Bobby White and wife Wanda of
Duncan and Wayne White of Marlow, sisters Joyce Barrington of Marlow, June Ammons of
Ridgeland, Mississippi, Zelma Prince and husband William of Argyle, Texas, and Meda
Cates and husband Steve of Sun City West, Arizona, along with many nieces and nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Pannell.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the hospice house Agape Road in
Bethany, OK (https://www.agaperoad.org). Many thanks to the wonderful people of Agape
Road and Alpha Hospice for providing such loving care and making it possible for Jean to
spend time with her son during her last days.
