Obituary

Marlow: James Talmage Cofer, (Bronc or J.T.), passed away Thursday, August 6, 2020 in Duncan at the age of 92.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, August 11, 2020, at the Ray of Hope Church with Rev. Mike McCord and Rev. Ronnie Bernard officiating. Burial will follow in the Duncan Cemetery. All arrangements have been entrusted to the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.

James was born Monday, April 16, 1928, in Ninnekah, OK, to Rev. James Alfred and Bertha Estelle (Hurley) Cofer. He spent his childhood in the Ninnekah and Bray areas and attended both schools while growing up. He lived in Marlow and Comanche as well as California and Texas but eventually settled in Duncan where he lived in the same house for 67 years. James married the love of his life, Eva Mae Barnes, in Duncan on December 14, 1946; they had been married for 53 years before her passing on September 22, 2000. James worked in the oil field for 19 years, and later he owned his Right of Way Clearing business, D & R Right of Way, which he ran from 1967 - 2002. James loved to coon hunt, fish, and dance as well as farm and no matter whether he was taking care of his cattle or growing his wheat and hay, or even his dancing, whatever James did, he went all out at it. He was a man with a larger than life personality and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his daughter, Karen O'Neal and husband, Gary, of Duncan, OK, 3 granddaughters, Stacie Crowson and husband, Tadd, of Comanche, OK, Shanan Johnson and husband, Gary, of Fort Worth, TX, and Allison Eddy and husband, Darren, of Inola, OK, 9 great-grandchildren, Zana and Zoie Crowson, Haley, Eli, Ava, and Eyn Eddy, and Josiah, Chrissy, and Jordan Johnson, his brother, Jery Cofer and wife, Vickie, of Duncan, OK, his sister, Rita Sue Hollander of Lawton, OK, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, James was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sons, Darel and Rondey Cofer; his 3 sisters, Cloycie Burris, Joycie Bray and Virginia Holybee.

Pallbearers will be: Son in Laws, Nephews and Great Grandson

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Chester Tucker, Peewee Riley, Charley Wooten, Ronnie Crawford, Richard Brooks, and Calvin Sweat.
